Apple Scones with Vanilla Chai Recipe
Ingredients
SCONES:
- 2 cups (300 g) self-raising flour
- 2 tbsp (25 g) Arkadia Vanilla Chai Latte
- ½ cup (100 g) brown sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 50 g cold butter, cubed
- 1 cup diced apple (about 1 medium apple)
- ⅓ cup (80 mL) milk, plus extra for brushing
VANILLA CHAI GLAZE:
- 1 cup (150 g) icing sugar
- 1 tsp Arkadia Vanilla Chai Latte
- 1 tsp melted butter
- 1 tsp milk, plus extra as needed
The Perfect Serve
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray.
Step 2
Sift the flour and Arkadia Vanilla Chai into a large bowl, then stir in the brown sugar and salt. Rub in the butter with your fingertips until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
Step 3
Stir through the apple. Add the milk and mix with a butter knife until a soft dough just comes together.
Step 4
Turn the dough onto a floured bench and knead it lightly. Pat it out 3 cm thick. Cut rounds with a floured 6 cm cutter, pressing straight down without twisting. Place them on the tray so they touch, then brush the tops with milk.
Step 5
Bake at 180°C for 15 minutes, until golden and they sound hollow when tapped. Cool for 10 minutes.
Step 6
For the glaze, mix the Arkadia Vanilla Chai with the melted butter and milk. Whisk in the icing sugar, adding a little more milk until the glaze is smooth and pourable. Drizzle over the warm scones and serve with a Chai Latte.
